When I first started exploring Website Development, I first needed to find some image and photo manipulation programs.  Although I do not use them as much today as I have now purchased Adobe as it was required for School, these wonderful programs got me started.  You will be amazed at what they can do and free too!  I do use Adobe Software and love that too, but quite pricey for anyone just starting out.
